EQUIPMENT

You will need the following equipment when you are making your natural hair conditioner at home. 

1. Source of fire
2. Saucepan
3. Spatula or stirring rod
4. Plastic bowl
5. Container
   

INGREDIENTS

To this wonderful product, all you need are the following ingredients. You can also add other ingredients of your choice if you know that it will be good for the hair.

1. Cetyl alcohol.          160grams 
2. Softener.                  100ml 
3. Shea butter.             50grams 
4. Preservative            100grams
   
5. Banana.                  3 pieces 
6. Honey.                   15ml 
7. Vitamin E.             5ml 
8. Glycerin.               25ml 
9. Fragrance.             5ml 
10. Water                    1 liter
    

 

PROCESS/INSTRUCTIONS

1. Put your water into your saucepan and place it on fire for it boil. 
2. Add your cetyl alcohol and shea butter to the water and allow it to melt
3. Now add your softener to it. The water should turn if you are using the right cetyl alcohol
4. Add it to boil for about 5 minutes and bring it down from the fire.
5. After 5 minutes, bring it down from the fire and add your preservative 
6. Allow the mixture to cool down
   
7. Prepare your banana by peeling and blending it
8. Now add the blended banana to the mixture
9. Add your honey, vitamin e and glycerin to the mixture
10. Add your fragrance.
11. You are done

HOW TO MAKE STYLING GEL

 

Styling gel cannot be ruled out of hair care products. This article is to give you some basic ingredients found in styling gel and the approach to preparing this product either for business or personal use. 1. Carboner                    25 grams
   
2. T.E.A                          5 ml
   
3. Thickener                   15 grams
   
4. Gelatin                        2 grams
5. Citric acid                   5 grams
   
6. Olive oil                      5 ml
   
7. Propylene glycol        20 ml
   
8. Glycerine                    20 ml
   
9. Argan oil                    2 ml
   
10. Jojoba oil                    2 ml
    
11. Ylang Ylang               2 ml
    
12. Vitamin E                    2 ml
    
13. Caramel                       6 ml
    
14. White Oil                     20 ml
15. Polyquarternium 11     5 ml
    

 Process

Step 1

Mix the carbomer, gelatin, citric acid and thickener in water. Stir very well for it to mix well. You can soak in the water and leave it overnight for it to dissolve by itself. You will do this when you don't have an electric hand blend or mixer.

Step 2

After mixing, add your triethanolamine (T.E.A) to the mixture and stir very well. the mixture should start thicken as soon as you add the T.E.A

Step 3

Add your  propylene glycol, white oil, glycerine and olive oil to the mixture and stir very well.

Step 4

Add your essential oils to the mixture. Separate the mixture and your caramel to one. You are done with your styling gel.

HOW TO MAKE LEAVE-IN CONDITIONERS

2. E-wax                              10 grams

8.  White oil                        20 ml
9. Glycerin                          30 ml

12. Preservative                    30 grams
13. Pine oil                           4 drops
14. Almond oil                    4 drops
15. Rosehip oil                    4 drops
16. Lavender oil                  4 drops
17. Carrot oil                       4 drops
18. Argan oil                       4 drops
19. Ylang Ylang oil             4 drops

 

Process

Step 1

Put a saucepan on fire with water in it. Place a bowl in it and add your shea butter, stearic acid, cetyl alcohol, beewax and e-wax. 

Step 2

After melting, bring it down from the fire and add some of the hot water.. About 500 ml and stir very well.

Step 3

Add your gelatin, citric acid and preservative and stir very well. Keep stirring until all the gelatin melts completely.

Step 4

Add your coconut oil, olive oil, white oil and glycerin to it and stir very well.

Step 5

Begin to add cold water to it for the thickness you want. Add until you are satisfied with the thickness.

Step 6

Add the essential oils to it and stir very. You are done.

PROCESS

1.      Set up your fire and put water on it and allow to boil

2.      Add your cetyl alcohol to it and allow it to melt

3.      Add your softener, stir and allow it to boil for 2 minutes

4.      Bring it down from fire and add booster and preservative

5.      Add fresh water and keep adding until you get the thickness you want.

6.      Add your coconut, glycerin, color and fragrance.

7.      You are done.

HOW TO MAKE CARAMEL

We will be using a lot of dye in our products - food, cosmetics or soap and detergents. It is however, important for us to learn how to make basic coloring agent like dye. This article explores the making of caramel using common ingredients like sugar.

INGREDIENTS

Please note that the caramel sold on the market might have other chemical used to produce it. This is just a one ingredient product.

1. Water

2. Sugar

PROCESS

1. Put your saucepan on fire and add your sugar to it

2. Add the sugar to melt and burn to become black.

3. Add water to it to get the consistency you want.

4. After getting the consistency you want, bring it down from the fire and allow it to cool down

5. When it cools down, bottle it.

6. You are done with your caramel.
