Castile soap has increasingly become one of the best liquid soap for shampoo and bathing gel. Even though it is alkaline with a pH of 8.9 on the pH scale. It is mild on the skin and hair and it lathers very well more than some sulfates. The soap was named after the olive oil-based soaps originating in Castile, Spain, The soap is primarily made of coconut, olive, and hemp oils, but other oils like avocado, almond, and walnut can also be used. In this recipe, we are going to teach you how to use coconut oil to do your Castile liquid soap.
Ingredients
- Potassium hydroxide 60 grams
- Coconut oil 250 ml
- Glycerin 30 ml
- Water 400 ml
Process/Method
- Measure your ingredients and set them aside
- Put your saucepan on the fire and add your oil
- Add 200 ml of water to it and allow it to boil
- Use the rest of the water to mix the potassium hydroxide as you wait for the water to boil
- When the water boil, lower the heat
- Begin to add the potassium hydroxide solution in bits and stir
- Stir well to turn the mixture into getting
- When you get the gel, add your glycerin to it and stir
- Bring it down from the fire and allow it to cool down
- Pour into your container.
- You are done!
